Travel Tips for Morocco

Visa:

South African passport holders require a visa for Morocco. It takes 3-4 weeks to process. Please make sure you apply with ample time.

Many countries do not require a visa to enter Morocco, please check your countries visa status with your local Moroccan Embassy.

Travel Plans:

The retreat begins at 2pm on Saturday the 23rd of March & check out is at 11am on Saturday 30th of March 2024. Please take this into account when planning your flights and transfers. The hotel is 35- 40 Minutes from Marrakech and 20 minutes from Marrakech airport.

Transfers can be organised via the hotel or with a local taxi company.I recommend pre booking your taxi to avoid any haggling on arrival.

Extend your stay:

Marrakech city is wonderful, I highly recommend booking your trip so that you land a day or two before the retreat starts. And stay even longer if you can to explore the Sahara plains and Atlas Mountains. A great travel company to contact if you wish to have someone help you organise a longer stay is Plan It Morocco .

There are incredible hotels to visit or stay at in and around the city. Hotels range from the affordable to the very pricey. Have a look at the exquisite El Fenn Hotel, or the beautiful Beldi Country Club.

I also love the perfectly curated Berber Lodge.

Booking.com has a wide range of inexpensive accommodation in the centre of Marrakech.

What to pack:

Marrakech can get hot in the day and cool at night at this time of year.

Make sure to bring light weight clothes with breathable fabrics, that cover your knees and shoulders for when we leave the retreat centre, a scarf and a hat. Sunscreen and swimming costume too.

Pack warm socks, walking shoes & gear, as well as jerseys for the evening dinning outside. It can get chilly.

Bring an easy to carry day bag for your outings.

The retreat centre has mats and props for those who do not wish to travel with their own.

Bring along your camera but be mindful of where & what you take photo's of! Always ask first if you don't want to be caught out by someone wanting money for the image. And I'd encourage you to stay away from the animal handlers and snake charmers. No good comes from that.
